( graveyard: we're cursed..........3 )

[ since there's more of us now, let's set up a scene...ish. we're at the beach! hooray!! it's our government mandated party game!! hopefully everyone is going to be well behaved because law won't give two shits. he's already arranging this for some reason unknown to man. indulgences? indulgences....... everyone get your sins in. taps on watch???
of course there is booze because there is always booze. law does not perceive the meth. (if there is any.)
NOW!! EVERYONE. TWO TRUTHS & ONE LIE. ]

[ Wow, he didn't expect to be attacked with a 2T1L like this out of the blue. He frowns, clearly a little taken aback as he's given this prompt, since he needs to actually think about what kind of weird nonsense he's done in his life that he hasn't told Law about already. Hm? Hm??? ]
Uh... hm.
Earl grey is my favourite tea, I've almost died in a subway, and I've owned pets before.
no subject
Pets, right? The fact that we have a snail right now is pretty strange.
[ on multiple levels. ]
no subject
Damn, you didn't even hesitate, did you? You're right, I don't have any pets.
...And that's your weird-ass snail, not mine. [ He just likes to mess with it. ]
no subject
Given what I've heard of your lifestyle I'd be surprised if you had a pet plant.
[ pets also imply a few other things that law isn't going to touch. the only feeling that steven will read from law is a subdued amusement. well, and a little playfulness. ]
So the "what's your's is mine" is a selective thing? My notebook is free range but you want nothing with the snail?
no subject
[ This is not entirely true, since for better or worse, Steven is alright at looking after people and things, though the cases would be more specific then. ]
And well, the notebook came about more recently. That snail's always been yours and is unfamiliar to me. Why is it also a phone?
no subject
You could be familiar with the snail, but it would act as a phone due to its telepathic link with other of its kind. It can also mock the voice and display the expression of whoever is speaking.
...if it had someone to communicate with.
no subject
[ Yeah. Steven, for his entire life, is drawing the "weird" line at your dendenmushi snailphone. ]
What, so you're telling me to get along with your oversized arthropod pet?
[ Kicking a bit of water quietly to himself. ]
no subject
Why at which part?
[ he'll look down at their feet and honestly still marvel that he's allowed to stand in it without getting sick. ]
I'm not telling you to get along with it, but maybe try not to pester it too much. It is a living creature.
no subject
[ ALL OF IT!!! He's rude. But experimentally, he'll scoop up some water and splash it at Law. Just a little. ]
I'm not an animal abuser, I leave it alone for the most part.
no subject
[ it may be a little bit of water but it still catches law completely off-guard because hello? normally something like that would hurt him than be completely harmless so he's just going to...
forget everything that he was doing. ]
no subject
Hello? Did I bluescreen you with that?
[ LAW? He says this as a joke, but there is actually some subtle alarm/worry given the talk they just had about how seawater is his weakness. ]
no subject
"Bluescreen"?
[ giving himself a little shake. ]
No, I'm fine. [ if he sounds confused while he says that it's because he is. sorry but he just isn't even used to being out this far into the surf??? at this point he'd be drowning(?) ] It's still weird knowing that this is ocean water and everything.
no subject
Yeah. It's when a computer stops functioning suddenly and displays a blue screen. It just means when someone suddenly stops whatever they're doing due to overload, shock, or whatever else. [ Kindly giving an explanation anyway.
But he sighs, since it's just Law... being overdramatic. ] Well, think of it as pool water if you want, then.
[ Then he smiles. ] Doesn't that mean you can try swimming now, though?
wtf how did i miss this tag?? i'm in tears
but thank you for the explanation steven. now when people make more computer references maybe be won't be as lost. still he'll frown at the idea of using "bluescreen" to describe some of those things. ]
I don't come across freshwater pools that often where I have time to laze around.
[ because law's a busy pirate that's up to no good, which will totally be paid forward as he keeps steven's hand hostage with the next suggestion. ]
Does that mean you'll be joining with me?
the splashing just deleted this entirely from law's memory
[ He sighs. ]
I did say if you want. Though I'm not that much of a swimmer but if it makes you feel better.
NO.
It's fine. Swimming in pools isn't exactly practice for swimming in the ocean. No waves in pools.
YES!
It's still practice for staying afloat? And there's pools that have artificial waves. You probably have never experienced them, but they're a thing!
[ Come on, Steven will wade in a bit deeper then. ]
:unamused:
Artifice waves? I wonder how I'd take to something like that. If seastones emit the same frequency of waves and those can affect me, I wonder if an artificial wave would do the same?
no subject
[ Huh. ] If that's the case, then it's essentially a form of forcefully induced seasickness, isn't it?
no subject
[ devil fruit really be like "FUCK WATER" for the users. though law will hum for a moment before continuing on with a sort of indifferent feeling about this. ]
I think there's a story or something that the reason for it is because the source of the devil fruits is at the bottom of the ocean so if a user enters the water, it's the source that is pulling them back.
no subject
[ It wouldn't be the most baffling concept Steven's ever heard of, though it's nonetheless very strange. He imagines a coral-esque tree at the bottom of the sea... ]
If that's the case, it makes sense why it wouldn't affect you here. Since if that's the reason, then it shouldn't exist here with us.
Which definitely means, I think you should definitely take this opportunity and have a luxury bath while you can.
no subject
I have the fruit that I do because the doctor who had it before me died.
[ also hmmmmmmmmm. ]
You really want to spoil me, don't you?
no subject
[ It probably applies. He just grins a little bit at Law's next quip though. ]
Yeah? Why not. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate all the time.
no subject
For a lot of reasons that maybe I shouldn't get to here.
[ he says playfully despite the words he chooses to say. he's sure to raise their hands higher into the air a bit as a wave comes. still weird to know that it's ocean water that's pelting him and he's fine with it. ]
You have plenty on your plate, too, from the sounds of it, so does that mean you've been treating yourself? Can't be all work.
no subject
[ He lets the water splash across his thighs, his pants sticking onto his thighs. Not the most pleasant thing really, but it's not so bad. ]
