There was plenty of evidence pointing at her, though. She was someone I had suspected after coming back from the simulation room, but I left it off of the table since I didn't want to name anyone until there was more.

Well, in that it wasn't like he was just stabbed or shot once and that was the end of it. Things could have been a lot more straightforward.

And given the shield we found and where, it seems like the fight was spread over several locations.

It's entirely plausible that the fight happened across multiple places. If someone's attacked they have either a fight or flight response.
