of course there is booze because there is always booze. law does not perceive the meth. (if there is any.)

At least he's got a pina colada, even if he's just staring at it. ]
I once fought a robot controlled long-distance by a vampire.
I've been put in jail in Hellsalem's Lot.
I've gotten completely wrecked at a celebratory drinking party.

Mahito looks like he's giving this some serious contemplation, curiosity gently rolling along with his General Chill Vibes as he taps his chin. Absolutely hate that the first isn't even that weird to him considering Mechamaru, and he just personally loves the idea of Steven being thrown into jail because it's hilarious, so:]
...You don't seem like you'd put your guard down long enough to get wrecked, so - that one?
no subject
We were.
[ The dread that wells up here as he remembers. Yeah. Steven. Dread. ]
Not prepared.

[TRAGIC.]
Pleeease tell me the jail one is true, too.
[PLEASE IT'S SO FUNNY.]

Yeah. It turns out, for someone who looks like a young teenager a good amount of the time, she has a beastly alcohol tolerance.
[ ANYWAY. ]
No, the jail one is the lie. I haven't been put into jail yet, though not for lack of trying because the local Lieutenant wants to keep me down.

Good for her! I'm glad. Bet you had the worst hangover of your life the next day, huh?
[Reaching out to pat his arm... Still finding it hilarious. God bless. Anyway, there's just a little bit of a brief pout.]
Wow, really? It'd be funny to see you in jail. Tell me more about the mecha!
no subject
The jail in my city is a massive maximum security place called Pandorum Asylum, I'd really have to fuck up to get sent there.
The mecha was a whole thing. We were working to avoid a drug deal between two extremely violent organizations that planned to spread it across the city, and one of the dons we were confronting had a blood breed -- that's our term for our world's vampires -- in his employ. Turned out that it wasn't the real body, and just telekinetically controlled by them from somewhere else.

You live a really interesting life.
Can I hear about the robot?
no subject
Right. We were tracking down a don to prevent a deal between two very violent criminal organizations to spread more drugs throughout the streets, and it turned out one of them had a blood breed in his employ.
I was the only person present who could deal with one of them, so we fought... and when I finally took its head off, it turned out to be a robot controlled long-distance by a blood breed, while my coworker was dealing with the real body.
Horrifying, really, since I really thought I was going to die and it wasn't even a vampire proper.

It was crazy to think that blood breeds could infuse their power into inanimate objects and fight just about as effectively as if it were in the flesh, but it happened.
no subject
... in no small part, perhaps, because robots haven't been invented yet.
You won, though, right?
no subject
[ He really thought he would die that fight. ]
Vampire magic, huh? What kind of things can you do? Other than turn into bats.
no subject
[some vampires are very extra! and apparently, certain humans, too. steven.]
no subject
The blood manipulation is actually a skill elder blood breeds can use. It's fighting fire with fire, really.

[Steven is a good man he'd NEVER go to JAIL.]

[ Not exactly because he's a good man and not for want of Lt. Law trying, but you know. He's never been to Pandorum. ]

[Sometimes Fukuda does have a brain.]

Lieutenant Daniel Law is the one we work with most often. He's not shy about expressing his disdain for us, and if we weren't the only folks who could deal with certain dangers, he'd be more than happy to put us in jail probably.
[ But he hasn't yet, because he can't. ]
no subject
[A beat. He really is amused though not as amused as his tone actually suggests?]
Actually, it's funny that there's a detective named Law, too.
no subject
Yeah? Nominative determinism at its finest, isn't it.
